Tracking

About the Tracking system

One of the major features of mercuryonline is our industry leading job tracking system, which extends from our drivers hand held PDA's, to our centralized computer systems, and now - via the web - to your computer.

Drivers Control Console By using the tracking system online you now have access to the same leading edge technology that allows our operators to monitor the status of your jobs.

As soon as your job is submitted to mercuryonline, it is passed directly into our advanced transport management system, and the job is immediately visible in your tracking console. As soon as your job is allocated to a driver, or the driver indicates (via their hand held PDA) that your job has been picked up or delivered, this information is displayed within our tracking consoles.

The tracking system is not just available to people booking a job online. If you enter a recipient contact name and email address when you book a job, we will email a notification advice to the recipient that will contain a link to our recipient tracking console so that he/she may also track the progress of your delivery to them.

The following list shows the various job status types that are reported via our tracking consoles:

  • BOOKED: Your job has been received by Mercury
  • ALLOCATED: Your job has been given to a driver, but has not yet been picked up
  • PICKED UP: Your job has been picked up, and is in progress
  • DELIVERED: Your job has been delivered
  • RETURNED: Your job was booked as requiring a return to the pickup address, and this has now been done
  • CANCELLED: You have cancelled this job

At mercuryonline we provide three different tracking consoles. Registered users get access to our summary and full tracking consoles providing up to the minute status on all your jobs for the current day, while non registered users and non-users who have received an email delivery notification advice, have access to our recipient tracking console showing the status of a particular job.

Below are examples of our full tracking console (left), and our summary tracking console (right). By default the summary tracking console is activated whenever a registered user signs into mercuryonline. The full tracking console can be activated by clicking on the "SHOW FULL TRACKING DETAILS" link on the summary tracking console, and will open in a separate browser window. The full tracking console has been designed so that you can leave it open and check the status of your jobs while continuing with other work on your computer.

Non registered users, and recipients of delivery notification emails, have access to a restricted tracking console that shows summary details and the status of a particular job. Non registered clients may access this by entering their job number and key code on the home page, while people who have received a notification email may click on the link embedded in the email to open this console.
